Teaser PV and Two Contrasting Visuals

The Tokimeki Visual Focuses on Momose and Ichikura
The Tokimeki visual presents Hiro Momose and Dan Ichikura through the softer side of the series.
Ichikura embraces Momose from behind while the two wear their school uniforms, with a bright pink design emphasizing the manga’s shojo-romance identity.
That sweetness comes with an obvious contradiction.
Momose entered high school hoping to stay as far away from delinquents as possible because of her unpleasant experiences during junior high.
Ichikura initially seems perfect for that peaceful new life: quiet, studious, black-haired, and always wearing glasses.
Then she discovers that he used to be one of the very people she fears most.
The Yankee Visual Changes the Mood Completely
The second artwork flips the presentation.
The Yankee version uses a darker blue atmosphere, places Ichikura prominently in front, and surrounds Momose with characters tied to the more dangerous side of his life.
Igarashi, Sakyo, Yachiyo, and Yataro are included alongside the two leads.
The pair of visuals summarizes one of the manga’s defining ideas: Ichikura can look like an ordinary model student as long as he keeps his glasses on, yet his former delinquent instincts are never particularly far away.
That contrast creates both the romance and the comedy.
The Teaser PV Uses the Same Gap
The first teaser PV also plays with the difference between those two moods.
It begins with the lighter romance presentation before switching into a much rougher delinquent atmosphere.
Rather than acting as a full episode preview, the early video primarily introduces the anime’s visual identity and the gap at the heart of its characters.
No voice cast or exact broadcast schedule is revealed in the teaser.
Makoto Hoshino Directs the Anime
Makoto Hoshino is directing the adaptation.
In his message for the announcement, Hoshino emphasized the manga’s unusual mixture of two kinds of nervous excitement: the thrill of romance and the tension created whenever the delinquent side of the cast takes over.
Megumi Shimizu is responsible for series composition, while Ruriko Watanabe handles character design.
Animation production is shared by Studio Flad and Wao World.
Additional staff including the music composer, sound director, art director, photography director, and editor have not yet been announced.
Momose Wants Peace, but Falls for a Former Delinquent
The story follows Hiro Momose, a girl who wants nothing more than an uneventful high-school life.
Her earlier experiences made her deeply uncomfortable around delinquents, so entering a new school feels like a chance to finally leave that trouble behind.
There she meets Dan Ichikura.
With his black hair, glasses, and serious attitude, Ichikura appears to be exactly the kind of harmless honor student Momose can comfortably trust.
She soon discovers that the image is incomplete.
Ichikura was once a feared delinquent. He insists that he has changed, but old instincts—and people connected to his past—continue to interfere with his new life.
Momose ends up protecting his secret while gradually falling for someone who should have been the opposite of her ideal type.
From a Short Serialization to One Million Copies
Naruki’s manga began as a short serialization in 2021.
Strong reader support and repeated reprints following its first two collected volumes led to serialization resuming in 2022 in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Friend.
By August 2026, the Japanese edition has reached 11 volumes and surpassed one million copies in circulation.
Kodansha also publishes an English digital edition through K Manga.
Seven Seas Entertainment licenses the print English edition under the title Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent, with its first volume released in January 2025.
The television anime was first announced in April 2026, followed by the 2027 broadcast window and primary staff reveal in August.
Why This Matters
1) The two visuals communicate the series immediately
The Tokimeki and Yankee versions show that this is not simply a school romance or a delinquent comedy—it deliberately lives between both.
2) Ichikura is trying to leave his past behind
His delinquent background is not merely there to make him look dangerous. Much of the conflict comes from his attempt to become a different person.
3) Momose falls for exactly the type of boy she wanted to avoid
Her fear of delinquents creates a personal contradiction at the center of the romance rather than relying only on conventional misunderstandings.
4) The anime has substantial source material
Eleven Japanese volumes are already available before the television adaptation begins.
