A Confession Trip Turns into a Murder Case

The story follows Lily, a posh college student who has romantic feelings for her best friend, Sally.

Lily arranges a vacation at a traditional inn, hoping to find the right moment to confess without the distractions of everyday college life.

Her plan collapses when a murder takes place. Evidence soon suggests that the group may be dealing with more than one killer.

Rather than retreating, Lily treats the criminals as people who have committed the unforgivable offense of interrupting her time with Sally. She declares war and begins investigating.

They are later joined by Lucy, a blonde woman encountered during the trip. The Japanese localization uses the names Riri, Sui, and Aki for the same three characters.

Anyone Could Be the Killer

Most people outside Lily’s immediate group initially appear as black silhouettes.

They retain limited identifying features, such as hairstyles, accessories, clothing shapes, or descriptive titles. Their faces and complete identities remain concealed.

This prevents players from deciding who looks friendly or suspicious from character artwork alone. Information is gradually added as Lily examines rooms, finds clues, and speaks with the people staying at the inn.

The system also supports the game’s comedy. A character may have the most threatening silhouette in the building without necessarily being the actual murderer.

Top-Down Exploration with 2.5D Camerawork

Blood Lily is not presented entirely through static visual-novel dialogue screens.

Players move through pixel-art environments, inspect objects, enter different rooms, and question possible witnesses or suspects.

The 2.5D camera gives additional depth to its top-down locations. Camera movement helps frame corridors, rooms, and crime scenes more dynamically during exploration.

Clues gathered in the environment provide context for relationships and the order of events. Dialogue choices determine how Lily responds and which direction the investigation takes.

No combat system has been announced. The focus remains on exploration, conversations, decisions, and solving the central mystery.

Ten Endings Change Lily and Sally’s Fate

Player decisions lead to ten possible endings.

The branches affect more than the identity of the culprit. Lily and Sally’s relationship, the safety of other characters, and whom the group can trust also depend on those choices.

Sounding Stone has not disclosed how the endings are divided between good, normal, and bad outcomes.

The large number of conclusions encourages replaying the investigation, checking missed clues, and selecting different responses during important conversations.

Steam Achievements are supported, although the complete achievement list is not yet visible.

The Story Is Divided into Two Chapters

The full game contains two chapters.

Chapter 1 is substantially adapted from a tabletop role-playing session played by the developer and friends. The original TRPG scenario was written by Marikoro and adapted with permission.

The game version is not a direct transcript. Events, characters, choices, and mystery elements were extensively revised for the interactive format.

Chapter 2 continues the conflict with material prepared for the game. Its dedicated opening movie was revealed alongside the finalized release announcement.

Both chapters are included in the main game. No separate Chapter 2 DLC has been announced.

A Free Demo Is Available

The Steam demo allows players to experience the beginning of the story before purchasing the complete release.

It takes approximately 20–25 minutes and includes the opening section. English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese are supported.

The full Japanese edition is priced at 624 yen. Pricing for Indonesia and other regions has not yet been displayed.

Steam may list September 14 while Japanese and Chinese announcements use September 15. This reflects the same release occurring on different calendar dates across regional time zones.

The Third Blood Lily Game

Killers Can't Sink a Yuri Ship follows Blood Lily Loop and Blood Lily Ghoststories.

Blood Lily Loop launched in 2024 and combined Cthulhu Mythos elements, a time loop, and the relationship between Lily and Sally.

Blood Lily Ghoststories followed in 2025, placing a group of occult-club students inside a late-night collection of supernatural stories.

The new game retains returning characters and 2.5D exploration while shifting its focus toward a murder mystery with more prominent comedy.

New players should still be able to follow its central premise, while knowledge of the earlier games may provide additional context for the existing relationships.

Why This Matters

1) Romance and investigation continually interfere with each other

Lily is not only attempting to solve a murder. She is still looking for a chance to confess to Sally while everything falls apart around them.

2) Silhouettes make every NPC suspicious

Players cannot judge the cast by facial expressions or elaborate designs. Their identities must be uncovered through evidence.

3) Ten endings give decisions meaningful consequences

Choices can alter relationships, character survival, and the final explanation behind the case.

4) The free demo reveals its style before launch

Players can check the writing, humor, exploration, localization, and level of horror without purchasing the game.
